Sam graduated in 2008 with a BSc(Hons) in Veterinary Nursing Science from Hartpury College. Due to her passion for advanced nursing, she embarked on the Higher Education in Clinical Veterinary Nursing and RCVS Advanced Diploma in Veterinary Nursing, completing this is in 2013 with Merit. Sam moved from Head Nurse of the Bradley Stoke hospital to Head Nurse of Referrals due to her passion to provide advanced anaesthesia, critical care and surgery for complicated and challenging cases. Sam's interests lie in surgical nursing, diagnostic imaging and anaesthesia.
Sam provides CPD lectures for veterinary nurses for IVC nursing programmes, and lectured at BSAVA Congress in 2018 as the principal surgical nursing lecturer. She currently sits on the editorial board for the international peer-reviewed journal The Veterinary Nurse and regularly contributes journal articles to the journal. She was the revision author for the surgical nursing chapter in Aspinall's Compete Textbook of Veterinary Nursing in 2016. In her spare time Sam spends time with her horse Charlie, and has a rescue cat called Daphne.
