First Advanced Practitioner

RCVS Names First Advanced Practitioner in Veterinary Neurology

We are delighted to announce that Ian Jennings BVSc BSc CertVDI MRCVS RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Veterinary Neurology & Diagnostic Imaging at Rowe Referrals has become the first vet in the UK to be awarded Advanced Veterinary Practitioner status in Veterinary Neurology by the RCVS. The newly established designation follows an eighteen-month application process and acknowledges Jennings’ seven years of experience in neurology, neuropathology and neurosurgery.

Jennings, who already holds AVP status in diagnostic imaging, joined the practice’s first opinion arm in 2007. He qualified from Melbourne University in 2004 after first completing a neuroscience degree at Edinburgh University. With a keen interest in the use of MRIs in treating spine and brain problems in pets, Jennings has become an expert in this field over his 20 years of practice.

He said:

“Personally this achievement is incredibly rewarding, but I also see it as an important step for veterinary neurology in the UK. It’s a fast-growing field with an increasing need for expert treatment and care so it’s exciting to see it recognised at this level.”

Kirsten McLeod, referrals operations director at IVC Evidensia, said:

“Ian’s accomplishment is a testament to his dedication and passion for advancing veterinary science within neurology. We are incredibly proud to see a member of the IVC Evidensia team be recognised as the first to achieve this qualification and continue to raise the bar in veterinary care and treatment standards.”
