"Brains, backs and funny walks."

Is it an orthopaedic or a neurology case?

Wednesday 7th July 2010 ~ 9.00am - 5.00pm

Course tutors: Mike Targett, Mark Owen & Tim Knott

Differentiating between neurological and orthopaedic causes of  gait abnormalities can be challenging. When is a dog ataxic?, when is it paretic? when is it lame?
In the same way head tilts, nystagmus, circling can be be challenging to pin down to central or peripheral causes.

With the help of a neurologist (Dr Mike Targett), an orthopaedic surgeon (Mr Mark Owen) and an Ophthalmologist (Mr Tim Knott) we hope to be able help you solve these diagnostic puzzles.

Mark (orthopaedic surgeon) will then take you through advances in the management of stifle and elbow disease - two of the commonest causes for forelimb and pelvice lamenenss.
